I have a friend that has a golden 39 A in the box never fired. Thanks Regnier, I am fairly new to this lever action thing but I am surely enjoying this 1895. There is a much more complete information on dating a Marlin here at in the reference section. The workings are exactly the same as any other Marlin.įrankm there is a two letter code for month and year on 22's from 60-68 I do not know if it was on any other years, scroll down at the link below and you will find the list. The Glenfield model is the same as any regular Marlin 336 but was made for a chain store, used hard wood instead of Walnut and may have had different sights. When I tried to use the date of manufacture site I first tried '00' as the first two numbers. The serial number is the strange part of this rifle it is 000272XX. It has fine checkering on the stock as well as the forearm. Strange serial number (Maybe) I recently acquired a Mdl 1894 S.44 Mag, 20' BBL in pristine condition.
